Keeping It Simple
Somewhere along the way, life got complicated.
Not just busy - but noisy.
Full of opinions, advice, “shoulds”, and a constant stream of things we could be doing to feel better, be healthier, or live “optimally”.
For a long time, I bought into that.
Trying to do more.
Be more.
Add more.
More workouts.
More “healthy” habits.
More structure.
More pressure.
And honestly? It left me feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, and… exhausted.
The power of simple
Something I’ve come back to time and time again, in my own life and now through my work as a health coach, is this:
Simple works.
Life doesn’t need to be complicated to be meaningful.
Health doesn’t need to be extreme to be effective.
In fact, it’s often the simplest things that are the most nourishing.
A walk outside.
A proper meal.
A good night’s sleep.
Time with people who lift you up.
Moments where you actually slow down and breathe.
These are the things that support us.
Not the endless list of things we think we should be doing.
The overwhelm of modern life
Social media, news, podcasts, they all have a place.
But they also bring a constant stream of information.
“Try this.”
“Do that.”
“This is the best way.”
“No, actually this is.”
It’s no wonder we feel confused.
It becomes discombobulating (love that word :)) like we’re spinning between ideas, never quite landing on what’s right for us.
And when everything feels important… nothing feels clear.
Coming back to basics
When things feel overwhelming, I always come back to this:
Strip it back.
Especially when it comes to health and wellbeing.
You don’t need a full life overhaul.
You don’t need ten new habits.
You don’t need to rush.
Start with one thing.
One goal.
One area of your life.
One small shift.
Then ask yourself:
Where am I now?
Where do I want to be?
What’s one simple step I can take to move closer?
That’s it.
No pressure.
No strict rules.
No timeline that you have to race against.
Just steady, intentional movement forward.
How I bring this into my coaching
Since becoming a health coach, this has become a huge part of how I work with people.
Because the truth is, most people don’t need more information.
They need clarity.
They need space.
They need simplicity.
So together, we:
Strip things back
Look at where you are now
Focus on what actually matters to you
Build a simple, realistic plan that fits into your life
No overwhelm.
No extremes.
Just small, meaningful changes that you can actually stick to.
A gentle reminder
You don’t have to do it all.
You don’t have to keep up with everyone else.
You don’t have to figure everything out today.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do…
is keep it simple.
If you’re ready to strip things back and take a simpler approach to your health, I’d love to invite you to contact me.
